I have been observing the Sabbath day for many years now. I continue to be amazed at this resplendent day that the L-RD has given His people to observe forever. This wonderful day of rest and holiness comes every single Saturday…a day of rejuvenation and renewal. I have learned to absolutely love this day. Consider what the Holy Bible says about the Sabbath Day:
“Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work. But the seventh day is the sabbath of the L-RD thy God:…For in six days the L-RD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the L-RD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.” Exodus 20:8-11 KJV.
“…my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the L-RD that doth sanctify you.” Exodus 31:13 KJV
“…the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.” Exodus 31:16 KJV
In our Restoration, the L-RD wants us to return back to our observance of this special day that He gave, especially for His Black Israelite people to follow and obey. The commands in the Scripture to the Black Israelite people were everlasting covenants that were always supposed to be taught and observed, to all of our generations. It was lost from us for these past 2000 plus years but now, the L-RD is restoring them back to us. Remember again the definition of restore: to reestablish; “bring back to its former condition, position and rank; make restitution.” This is where we are now in the current dispensation of Christianity and the Church; the Restoration of the original Hebrew, Israelite, Jewish people.
Today I would like to share with you some of the ways that I observe the Sabbath day. The Sabbath day actually begins on Friday evening at sunset until Saturday evening at sunset. The Hebrew word for the Sabbath is Shabbat. I usually start my day by lighting a couple of candles and saying a prayer thanking G-D for the Sabbath and praying for peace and rest on this day. I pray this for all of my family, friends and the world. I spend some time in the Scripture reading G-D’s Word. There is always a Scripture verse or passage that ministers to me anytime I read the Bible. (I usually do these things on Saturday mornings). Friday evenings I typically rest and enjoy the evening.
I take it easy on the Sabbath. I do minimal housework (wash the dishes, pick up a little bit, light cooking, etc). I don’t get into any of the heavy stuff like washing clothes, vacuuming, dusting and cleaning bathrooms. If I need to do something that I think is bothersome to my rest, I will pray and ask the L-RD Jesus, Yeshua if I can do that particular thing. (Sometimes we get behind on things and really need to do a chore etc., that we ordinarily wouldn’t do on the Sabbath). I try not to make a habit of it though.
Basically on the Sabbath, I try to do whatever is enjoyable and restful to me. I like to spend time with my husband, my children, and my grandkids, (going to the kid’s sports events, birthday parties, etc). I like to read, write and/or just relax. I try not to do anything that is going to cause me stress or upset me.
When the Sabbath day ends, I pray the “Havdalah” prayer, which is Hebrew for a prayer that marks the end of Shabbat (the Sabbath) and separates it from the rest of the days of the week. In my prayers, I thank G-D for the rest and peace of the day, and for my family and friends. I pray for many other things that are on my heart.
Jesus, Yeshua said that He is “L-RD of the Sabbath.” Matthew 12:8. G-D did not abolish the observance of the Sabbath. Jesus (Yeshua) will let you know what is acceptable and not acceptable to do on the Sabbath day. He’s in charge! If you happen to work on the Sabbath day, pray and ask the L-RD to deliver you from having to work on that day. Then wait for Him to do His Work!
It’s a great thing that G-D has ordained this weekly rest for His people. I believe that we must show Him that we understand and want what He has for us by observing it. Just step out in faith and do it. It’s a blessing that He wants all of His people to enjoy. The Sabbath day is a very special day to G-D and it should be to us as well.
Sabbath Day observance is the L-RD’s will for His people today! Blessed are all who strive to observe it!
Shabbat Shalom
